General HR advice

 

As a member, by logging your request via our phone hotline or online form, you can receive advice on your general HR matters within a 2 working day* turnaround. Our team will draw upon their experience working within church staff management to provide you with the support that you need. We will underpin our guidance using resources from ACAS, CIPD, and our professional partners and will signpost and refer to HR specialists and employment solicitors as required. CWN maintains an internal knowledge base of advice and documentation provided to churches to help with your HR requirements, reducing the need to reinvent the wheel.

We have direct experience with:

  • line management, performance management, and appraisals

  • developing HR policy

  • healthy recruitment

  • staff restructuring including redundancy

  • grievance and disciplinary procedures

 

Recruitment

 

Getting recruitment right can be tricky. If you need help assessing your staffing needs, drafting job descriptions and personal specifications, advertising, shortlisting or interviewing, please get in touch. (Some services may be chargeable).

 

HR Documentation & Publications

 

Members of CWN receive our Church Workers Employment Handbook, a digital publication covering good HR practice, healthy team management, and a raft of up-to-date contract, policy, and procedural templates.

Additionally, individual document pro-formas can be accessed through the membership scheme.

 

Training & Events

 

CWN hosts regular webinars where we invite experienced professionals to speak about the HR and employment needs of churches. Guest speakers may be employment solicitors, HR practitioners, or team management specialists.

Face-to-face training days may be organised on an ad-hoc basis and tickets are discounted to members.

Additionally, we can prepare and deliver bespoke training for your staff management needs including topics such as Effective Line Management, HR governance for trustees, and Healthy Team Leadership.

 

Specific support / Consultancy

 

Where you have specific needs which require more focussed attention, we can signpost you towards consultancy services charged on a day rate / hourly rate. Do get in touch to discuss your needs further.
